Heat Cancellations

Heat Cancellations

Cancellations:

  • The "Today's Games" link is kept updated with all known cancellations.
  • Remember you need to reschedule these games that are being cancelled either because of league decisions, or host sites disallowing play for certain days.
  • You can navigate back and forth on the "Today's Games" page to see past and future dates, and when games are still in need of a reschedule.

Remember our heat index rules:

Heat Index

Recommendations

90° - 99°

Two (4 minute) water breaks per half. (or one per quarter).

100° - 108°

Three (4 minute) water breaks per half. (1-2 per quarter.)

> 108°

Suspend Play until heat index lowers.

Reminder: Inclement Weather

Reminder: Inclement Weather

Some days are very iffy regarding rain, thunderstorms, etc.     The league is unlikely to do any widepsread cancellations, because weather varies greatly over our entire league area, and it changes quickly

Reminder of rule 5.13 (A):

If it is clear in advance of the game, that weather conditions make the home field unplayable, the home coach must try to notify the Coordinator of Referees and the visiting team so that they may avoid unnecessary traveling.

We understand there is occasionally hesitation/unwillingness of a team to travel to a remote site due to perceived dangers en route, or weather once they get there.  Our rules do not provide for this. Any team (Home or Visitor) deciding in advance that a game will not happen is not allowed, except as stated above.

All such situations should be sent to the League President for review.  If the issue is raised early enough, potential remedies include application of a grace period, permission to reschedule, etc.  Without league permission, any cancellation subjects the responsible team to a potential forfeit situation.

  • GotSport: NYSWYSA this year will again use GotSport exclusively for player rostering.  (No more RosterPro.)  Please make yourself familiar with this site.  See the PLAYER REGISTRATION tab of this website for details, and reach out to NYSWYSA if you have questions.
    • Local signups: Clubs can "sign up" players into their own club however they like: (Demosphere, local web pages, paper forms, etc.)  In the end, player information that was collected during those signups must be imported into GotSport in order for players to be placed onto official rosters.

    • Players who will be 18 before 7/31/2025 must also complete the SafeSport training.  It is free of charge.
  • Game Cancellations: Each game day, please watch the website for global game suspensions.  Any local or widespread postponements of games will be announced by 4pm on game days.  Games postponed for such reasons must be made up within short order (e.g., 1 week) or fines will be imposed.
